Women on TANF: Screening and Treating Depression
The 2007 Legislature directed the Institute “to evaluate the effectiveness of current methods for screening and treating depression in women who receive temporary assistance for needy families (TANF), and to make recommendations for their improvement.” The Institute will also investigate the prevalence and severity of depression, and adequacy of treatment among women receiving TANF to clarify the relationship between depression and long-term receipt of TANF or family sanction status. A report will be completed by July 1, 2009.
