| Washington Assessment of Student Learning: A Historic Look at the WASL and High School Graduation | |
| To “increase understanding of the students who did not meet the standard in one or more areas of assessment,” the 2006 Washington State Legislature directed the Institute to conduct a “review and statistical analysis of Washington assessment of student learning data.” The study direction also calls for a review of "options to augment the current system of assessments to provide additional opportunities for students to demonstrate that they have met the state learning standards." (SSB 6618) This report examines the historical relationship between student performance on the 10th-grade Washington Assessment of Student Learning (WASL) and subsequent high school graduation.
